Mira Activity Plan #7
7. Activities:
  • Give each student a blank picture of a T-shirt on a piece of paper. Have them color the picture of the shirt with their favorite color (Colorean la playera con su color favorito.). Then create a bar graph of all of the colored T-shirts by taping the pictures on the board on a graph such as this:
  • ¿Cuál es el color de playera que más le gusta a la clase?

    rojo negro amarillo azul verde

  • Ask the students questions about the results. For example, which color the class likes best (¿Cuál es el color que más le gusta a la clase?) or the least (¿Cuál es el color que menos le gusta a la clase?). Also, ask them how many shirts there are in total (¿Cuántas playeras hay en total?) and in each column. (¿Cuántas playeras rojas hay?)

Assessment:
Observe the students. Are they engaged in creating the graph? Can they respond to questions about the graph in words, phrases, or full sentences?

Objectives: TLW understand, and respond to, color words. TLW understand, and participate in, answering questions about the bar graph.

Language in use: colorea, ¿Cuántas playeras hay en total?, ¿Cuál es el color que más le gusta a la clase?, ¿Cuál es el color que menos le gusta a la clase?
Hay veinte playeras en total. A la clase le gusta el color rojo más.

Materials: blank picture of a T-shirt, crayons/ markers/ colored pencils, masking tape
