Description of the Task:
You have received an email message from Juan Carlos, your keypal (penpal) from Spain. In the message, he tells you where he is going and what he plans to do there. Read his email and respond to him with your weekend plans. You must also respond to any direct questions in the message.
Materials Needed: Computer lab; student email system
Teacher Notes:
Students should have prior knowledge of a variety of town locations as well as the activities that are associated with them. Prior knowledge will also include the ability to say at least one of the following in the target language: want to, need to, have to, going to.

Estoy aquí en Madrid, haciendo planes con mis amigos y mi familia. Tengo muchas cosas que necesito hacer durante este fin de semana. Necesito zapatillas nuevas, entonces el sábado, voy a ir al Corte Inglés con mi mamá para comprarlas. A mi mamá no le gusta el Corte Inglés porque es demasiado grande y muy caro. ¿Cómo son las tiendas en los Estados Unidos? ¿Son caras? ¿Tienes que ir de compras con tu mamá? A mí no me gusta pero ella tiene el dinero - no tengo bastante dinero para comprar las cosas que me gustan - ¡qué horror!
Por la tarde, voy a ir a la tienda de discos para comprar el disco compacto de Ricky Martin. ¿Te gusta la música de Ricky Martin? A mi hermana le encanta Ricky Martin. Ella dice que él es guapísimo. No creo que es la verdad, pero me gusta su música.
Por la noche, necesito ir a la casa de mis abuelos. Hay una fiesta para mi abuela porque es su cumpleaños. Ella tiene 75 años. ¿Cuántos años tienen tus abuelitos?
El domingo, mi familia y yo vamos al Parque de Retiro. Me gusta el parque porque puedo descansar y dar un paseo con mi familia. ¿Haces muchas cosas con tu familia? Por la noche, necesito terminar la tarea para escuela. No me gusta la tarea, pero necesito hacerla. ¿Te gusta la escuela? ¿Qué clases tienes? Tengo literatura, inglés, matemáticas, historia, y muchas otras.
Pues, necesito irme porque quiero ir al cine para ver "Pokemon". ¿Te gusta Pokemon? Aquí es muy popular. ¿Tambièn en los Estados Unidos?
